The Couple: Debbie and Ben
The Photographer: Ed Peers
Can you tell us a bit about your love story and your lives together? We met at a church group in college and rarely talked or saw each other for the next two years. It was only when we realized that we were traveling to Italy at the same time that we reconnected and really got to know each other. So, that’s how we ended up building a relationship in a foreign country and we were blessed to be in such a beautiful place while we fell in love. Then after about six months of the best time of our lives in Italy, we came back to Los Angeles where our relationship grew for another five years. Now, we’re happily married and always grateful for that experience and for each other.
Where did you choose to have your honeymoon and why? We went back to Italy and stayed mostly around Rome because it was where we started dating! The Eternal City holds such a special place in our hearts, and we were so happy to have gone back after 5 years to retrace our steps. During the prime of our relationship in Italy, we both threw coins into the Trevi Fountain and made a promise to come back together. So, we were thrilled to actually go back to celebrate our marriage and to fulfill our promise. Ed was able to meet us on the last day of our honeymoon to do a “honeymoon” photo session with us. We can go on and on about our honeymoon, but we know that pictures speak a thousand words.
What inspired your choice to have your portraits taken during your honeymoon? We knew it would mean so much to us to capture some of the moments we experienced during our time back in Rome. We were so lucky to have had the chance of falling in love abroad and in such a beautiful country that it only made sense to take our portraits in the city that really brought us together. We had originally planned for an engagement shoot in LA before meeting Ed, but we decided take portraits while honeymooning in Rome after we found out that Ed is from London! Meeting him was such a blessing because it inspired one of the best ideas and experiences we’d ever had.
What specifically drew you to Ed Peers and his imagery? We were drawn to Ed Peers after spending hours swooning over his beautiful photography on his website. He just seemed to do such a wonderful job at capturing the emotions and feelings from everyone’s special days. We checked out a few other photographers, and though they were all great in their own way, Ed had that extra something special that made it one of the easiest decisions during our wedding planning process. After getting to know him a bit more through email and a Skype session, we felt that Ed genuinely loves what he does and that really showed throughout our entire experience with him and in all of our photos. He truly has a heart for his work, which is why we think he’s one of the best in the world of wedding photography.
Ben and Debbie, thank you for sharing your romantic day in Rome with us. Bravo to Ed for capturing this sweet couple with so much beauty! See more of his incredible work on his blog!
