Thanks to the unfortunate arrival of Hurricane Sandy, Pamela and Bill’s New York City wedding almost didn’t happen. But the couple was determined and they rolled with the punches, as did their incredible photographer Jenny Jimenez. The Groom is a photographer himself so he appreciated Jenny’s extreme dedication and flexibility, when she jumped right into action a day earlier than planned. Their elopement in Central Park was absolutely full of beauty, and afterward they walked back through the quiet city, enjoyed a non-traditional hotdog in lieu of wedding cake cutting, and then jumped on the subway to Reynard’s for a cozy reception dinner. The night ended under the lights of the Empire State Building, as they watched the storm roll in.
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Pamela and Bill: Adventurous, memorable, love-filled.
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Pamela and Bill: We love to travel and are happiest when were surrounded by history and art. What better place, state-side anyway, to have that other than NY?
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Pamela and Bill: The moment we decided to skip all the formalities and have a super small, intimate wedding in a city that we both love. The moment we knew we had to move the wedding up by one day and we called our photographer, and she said shed be there. The moment I hugged my niece in the middle of 5th Ave and 72nd St. The moment I saw my soon-to-be husband waiting for me by the bridge where we were to be married. This was the first time hed seen the dress. The memory of walking hand in hand to where our loved ones were standing, waiting to celebrate in our marriage. Hearing the vows that Bill wrote for me. Being on the Weather Channel. Being chased out of Central Park by the NYPD. All the total strangers that were saying congratulations! The hotel and service. The storm of-course. Seeing Bill smile and cry all in one day and all for happiness.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Jenny Jimenez and her imagery?
Pamela and Bill: Jenny has a really fresh approach and eye. Her approach is very friendly and thoughtful. She took time to get to know us and our story. She was invested. Her look is bright, fun, exciting and intimate all at the same time. Her work shows that she knows how to capture the story, and thats what every couple wants!
