Becka and Nate of Studio 222 Photography recently traveled to Treasure Island, Florida with plans to spend a relaxing vacation with their family. But as it turns out, Becka’s mom Cheryl had other ideas and the family vacation was actually a surprise wedding on the exact beach where she and her fiance Lee had gotten engaged. Thankfully, Becka figured out the surprise early, as daughters often do, and brought an extra camera along. The resulting photos are intimate, joyful, and tender. And to quote Becka, “This is what its about yall. Its about people and promises. Strip it all down to just family and friends who love you, to vowed promises to love someone else, to happiness and the kind of hugs that only family can give.”
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Cheryl and Lee: Personal, intimate and meaningful
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Cheryl and Lee: Our style is quite eclectic as you can see but we tried to just let everyone be themselves with no pressure to be anything but. This was a small wedding and was a surprise to almost everyone and that is the way we wanted it. There was lots of laughter and tears of joy and surprise, and I would not have changed a thing!
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Cheryl and Lee: Being that this was a surprise wedding and my brother flew down to officiate and we were able to keep him hidden until the moment he was to perform the ceremony, the surprise factor was awesome! Having both our children there was also VERY important to us. Also, spending a few days on the beach with our family and friends was just the perfect ending. Family and Love, there is nothing better!
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Studio 222 Photography and their imagery?
Cheryl and Lee: The photographers were my lovely daughter Becka, and her husband Nate. I actually did not tell Becka about this wedding because I wanted her to come and just enjoy the day, but she had her camera (she had figured out the surprise I think) and took some very sweet, beautiful and perfect images of our special day! I am truly blessed with not only a wonderful husband/partner but a loving and supportive family.
So sweet, and so real. Thank you for sharing your incredible wedding story with us Cheryl and Lee, and Studio 222!
