Newly relocated to Beaufort, South Carolina, Molly and Joe decided an intimate destination wedding for their closest friends and family would be the perfect introduction to their new home. These stunning photos from Charleston based wedding photographer Virgil Bunao have me longing to visit Beaufort too so I’d say they made just the right choice!
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Molly and Joe: Formal, Southern, Intimate
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Molly: I loved my dress! I wanted something classic but with some modern touches too. It was perfect for me. Also, I’m so glad we did a destination wedding because all of our family and friends were able to see our new home together in Beaufort. We were also so thankful we hired a wedding planner. There were so many details that we would have missed if we had not had her!
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Molly: Well, I’ve been collecting porcelain boxes since I was a child and my husband gave me my engagement ring in a porcelain box from Tiffany and Co. Pink is my favorite color, so I decided to use it in the flowers and bring in the turquoise from the porcelain box with my bridesmaids dresses. It was a formal wedding, so I knew I wanted my bridesmaids to wear long dresses. I also love bows, ruffles, and polka dots! My cake had a bow at the top with polka dots, and my dress had a ruffle collar. My shoes had a bow at the top too. We used turquoise boxes with white, satin bows for our “Welcome Boxes”, and continued that color palette throughout our reception decor – using turquoise napkins, koozies, and ribbon around the burlap drums hanging in the tent. We also used turquoise ribbon around the tent legs and turquoise candle holders on the table tops, and a turquoise table cloth on the cake table. I found these incredible oyster shell candles we used on the bars to remind my guests that we were in the lowcountry!
