The Couple: Sarah and Chris
The Wedding: 11.12.11 – Mercury Hall – Austin, TX
The Photographer: Ashley Garmon Photographers
What specifically drew you to Ashley Garmon and her imagery? I love, love, love Ashley’s Holga work and her skill at catching great images that really tell the story of the day. Her pictures are the visual history of the start of our family – I love that.
What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Vintage, Casual, Elegant
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? Chris is more classic and I’m more all-over-the-place, but we wanted something that felt like a reflection of us as a couple. So it was our own personal blend of things pretty and frilly, minimalistic and simple, fancy and BBQ-all-over-your-face messy.
Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? I love that we chose to see each other before the ceremony, to have a moment for just us (and the photographers). That was such a lovely time of the day when all the planning and logistics were done (or at that point if they weren’t, who cares!) and we really got to share with each other our excitement about getting married and creating a life together.
We chose to play “Home” by Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros as our recessional and I think that after the classical music of the procession, that was a little surprise for everyone and really helped shape the festive and sweet mood for the ceremony.
I loved, loved, loved the bouquets that the florist created for myself and all of the bridesmaids. All of the flowers, actually were exactly what was in my head, although I don’t know the proper names for half of them!
I ordered bibs for everyone to wear while eating BBQ and it just added to the light tone of the evening. Plus I didn’t get any sauce on my dress!
