As the days have gotten shorter, I have found myself utterly craving light, so getting to spend some time with these stunning photos by Photopek, of Irene and Nikos’ wedding, was a much needed source of warmth on this dark and chilly morning. Their wedding took place in Anavissos, Greece, and between the luminous location, glorious light and achingly blue water, what more could a couple (or their lucky photographer) hope for?
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Irene and Nikos: Simple, Happy, Traditional.
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Irene and Nikos: The wedding style was not a big dilemma for us. All we wanted to incorporate was the sense of summer, simplicity and the sea. Since most of the wedding’s aspects were designed and made by ourselves, friends and family, it was not hard to incorporate our own style and personalities.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Irene and Nikos: We did not have a bachelor or bachelorette party but instead, we had a joined beach party which was the best decision we made regarding the wedding. Everyone had a great time and grew closer to each other and to us. Also, the ceremony venue was ideal; a 5th A.C. century church by the sea with perfect weather right before sunset was as picturesque as we could have wished for.
A very intense memory for us was getting to experience the old custom of being spoon-fed honey and chestnuts by the priest during the ceremony to symbolize sweet life and fertility.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Photopek Photography and their imagery?
Irene and Nikos: Close friends of ours proposed Photopek to us, and his previous work was very impressive. When we spoke with him, we really got a sense of the kind of person we wanted to have shoot our wedding. He was perfect and his style and vision matched ours completely.
