As we enter into the busy holiday season, it is so refreshing to experience a wedding that focused just on what was most important to the couple. For Jodie and Aviad, those things were a stunning venue, a killer DJ, and an amazing but inconspicious photographer. They were married in the gorgeous light of Petach Tikva, Israel under a chuppah beneath fragrant, blossoming trees. Their DJ kept everyone on the dance floor for the entire party and their photographer, Scott Lewis Images, shot in his always expert photojournalistic style and revealed all the beautiful moments that overflowed from beginning to end.
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Jodie and Aviad: Happy, fun and multicultural
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Jodie and Aviad: We are very low key, no fuss kind of people and we wanted our wedding to reflect that. We wanted to get married outside and found a venue that was simply stunning with palm trees, fresh grass and a chuppah nestled in the blossoming trees. With the beautiful setting, we didnt need to invest in design as the venue itself was perfect. We also love to dance and knew we wanted to throw a good party, so the focus on finding the perfect DJ was very important.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Jodie and Aviad: Not leaving the dance floor for the entire three hours that the party was going. Also, the song we picked to walk down the aisle to was upbeat, fun and nostalgic for the Israelis. It got everyone smiling and clapping leading up to the ceremony which we feel really set the mood for the rest of the night.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to this photographer and their imagery?
Jodie and Aviad: Scott is one of the most talented photographers weve ever encountered. We wanted a photographer who shoots in a photojournalistic sytle; one who would capture the moments, not try to create them, and Scott did just that. In looking at his previous wedding shoots, we could feel the emotion of the day and feel like we were in the moment with the subjects and so we knew that we needed to hire him. In hindsight, we feel very lucky to have made this decision, not only because we love the pictures, but also because over the course of the day, he empowered us, calmed our nerves and was another reason that the day was as perfect as it was.
