The Couple: Maggie and Michael
The Wedding: 4.6.13 – Le Maison Rouge at Paris on Ponce, Atlanta, Georgia
The Photographer: Scobey Photography
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Maggie and Michael: Amazing, fun, smooth.
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Maggie and Michael: Michael and I didnt want a truly traditional wedding. I didnt want a large open room that I would have to fill with flowers, so when we found Paris on Ponce and their event space, the Maison Rouge, the eclectic decor and layout was perfect for us. Plus it backs up on a fairly new greenspace project that we support, the Atlanta Beltline.
For my dress, after looking extensively for one that caught my eye, I discovered that it did not exist. I found a wonderful seamstress, Fariba Price, to make it from scratch.
Since Michael had been in the music industry for over 20 years, the band and music was really important. Bogey and the Viceroys were perfect. They were so incredibly fun, energetic, and got everyone dancing.
Pictures were one of the wedding details that was really important to us. We found the Scobeys on a caterers blog. After meeting them for the first time, we knew they would be perfect. Plus, with such a dark reception site, we had to find photographers that were up for the challenge. They absolutely nailed our style and created an absolute treasure of images.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Maggie and Michael: Besides marrying my best friend (cliche, I know) and being surrounded by an incredible group of fun-loving friends and family, the one thing that Michael and I agreed on is that every decision we made was absolutely spot on – spot on and made together. Every vendor we chose, the way we split our budget, the things we decided to make ourselves (invitations, bouquets, custom tux, my wedding dress, and the favors), and the timing was perfect. We couldnt have asked for a more perfect April day in Atlanta.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Scobey Photography and their imagery?
Maggie and Michael: It is obvious that they are truly talented. Their portfolio proved that they had an eye for composition, color, lighting, and most importantly, capturing moments. Michael and I were really sold when we met Ashley and Graham. They are incredibly warm, love love, and are actually insistent on getting to know each couple they shoot (which I adored). Since we opted out of videographer (not really our style), it was important to have a photographer that could tell our story with still images. We had the utmost confidence they could do it. Everyone has been incredibly impressed with the outcome.
