Jackie and JJ met in 2017 as recent college graduates beginning their careers at Goldman Sachs. They became close quickly, then spent the next eight years building careers, traveling, and moving through adulthood together. There was no single moment when marriage suddenly made sense. By the time they got engaged in 2024, it was simply the next step in a life they had already spent years sharing.<\/span><\/p>\n
Rather than gathering everyone for a single day, they pictured taking “the <\/span>trip<\/span><\/a> of a lifetime with all of our favorite people.” Garza Blanca Cancún gave them a way to make that happen without asking guests to constantly travel between venues. Everyone could stay at the resort, join the scheduled celebrations, then head to the pool, beach, or their rooms whenever they wanted.<\/span>

After the wedding, everyone reconvened on the beach before another party that evening, this time with more speeches, piñatas, ice cream and conchas, sparklers, and fireworks. That visual reference also gave their vendors something concrete to work from. Jackie and JJ researched weddings in Cancún and Mexico City, found vendors through Instagram and recommendations from their planning team, and compared portfolios and pricing before booking. Their photographer and videographer came from Mexico City, while most of the remaining team was based locally in Cancún.<\/span><\/p>\n
For a destination wedding with plenty of logistics happening from afar, communication mattered as much as the portfolios. Their planning team, including Lorenzo and Emily of <\/span>Pride Maya Weddings<\/span><\/a>, helped manage the practical side while Jackie remained hands-on with the design. The couple credits their planners’ responsiveness with making decisions and concerns much easier to navigate from a distance.<\/span><\/p>\n

They also exchanged gifts with their parents, giving their mothers matching diamond necklaces and JJ’s father a Louis Vuitton wallet. After the ceremony, they headed to the beach for photographs before joining cocktail hour. Among all the decor at Garza Blanca Cancún, one of the most talked-about displays was also one of the simplest. Jackie and JJ wrote a handwritten letter to every guest explaining what that person had meant to them over the years.<\/span><\/p>\n
The envelopes doubled as <\/span>escort cards<\/span><\/a> and hung on a colorful wall labeled “Our Favorite People.” Guests found their seating assignments along with messages written specifically for them.<\/span><\/p>\n
“There were tears, laughter, and so many heartfelt reactions,” the couple says. “Every word came from the heart.”<\/span><\/p>\n
The idea carried through to the reception in a different form. Since 2020, Jackie had recorded a one-second video almost every day, collecting clips of trips and major milestones alongside dinner parties, movie nights, and ordinary days at home.
