There are countless ways to celebrate in Las Vegas, but Bri and Avery wanted their <\/span>wedding weekend<\/span><\/a> to show guests the version of the city they had come to love. Their queer Las Vegas wedding traded casino clichés for restored neon signs, Halloween on Fremont Street, a historic midcentury home, and a reception that ended with an unexpected jump into the pool after the final song.<\/span><\/p>\n

The city became part of their story long before the proposal. The couple briefly lived there early in their relationship, and it was the place where they realized they were building a life together. Returning to celebrate with the people they love most simply made sense, and every event was planned around sharing that side of the city with their guests.<\/span><\/p>\n

Like many modern couples, Bri and Avery first met on Hinge in 2021 while Avery was in law school and Bri was working as a nurse in Boston.<\/span><\/p>\n
Their first date nearly ended before it began. After an exhausting 12-hour hospital shift, Bri realized she wouldn’t make it to the theater where Avery had already arrived early and was waiting in the rain. She assumed there wouldn’t be another chance.<\/span><\/p>\n
Thankfully, Avery agreed to reschedule. A week later they wandered through the Museum of Fine Arts until closing time. “It was Avery’s first Hinge date,” Bri said. “The rest is history.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Instead of gathering everyone for a traditional rehearsal dinner, the couple hosted welcome drinks at <\/span>Carson Kitchen<\/span><\/a> on Halloween night and invited guests to wear costumes.<\/span><\/p>\n
“Fremont on Halloween is a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Bri shared.<\/span><\/p>\n
The evening naturally turned into a night exploring Fremont Street and the Strip, giving everyone a chance to settle into the city before the wedding day arrived.<\/span><\/p>\n

Neither Bri nor Avery had seen the <\/span>Neon Museum’s North Gallery<\/span><\/a> in person before walking into the ceremony.<\/span><\/p>\n
Standing among the restored signs connected the moment to both Las Vegas history and the museum where they had shared their first date years earlier.<\/span><\/p>\n
Bri walked down the aisle to “Turning Page” performed live by a string duet. Avery’s grandmother wrote a blessing, Bri’s cousin read a Megan Falley poem, and the couple exchanged personal vows before family portraits while the musicians continued playing some of their favorite songs.<\/span><\/p>\n

Las Vegas wasn’t simply where Bri and Avery got <\/span>engaged<\/span><\/a>. It was where they first lived together and where they discovered just how serious their relationship had become. “Sin City became a place we associated with all the best things in our relationship.”<\/span><\/p>\n
That idea carried through the entire weekend. Instead of focusing on the typical tourist attractions, they introduced guests to Old Vegas, the Arts District, and the small businesses that had become part of their own memories of the city. Building a team of <\/span>queer-friendly vendors<\/span><\/a> who embraced that vision helped bring everything together.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bri built her entire look around a metallic green veil she had fallen in love with, pairing it with a pink <\/span>Selkie<\/span><\/a> gown that surprisingly didn’t need alterations. She also spent the year before the wedding working with an esthetician on a skincare plan.<\/span><\/p>\n
Avery visited several suit shops before finding the custom <\/span>three-piece suit<\/span><\/a> that felt right. His favorite details were deeply personal: cufflinks modeled after their <\/span>dog<\/span><\/a> Kiwi and a pocket watch engraved with a quote from <\/span>Stone Butch Blues<\/span><\/i>, gifted by Bri on the morning of the wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n

Bri handed the AUX cord to her best friend, who filled the ride with favorite songs while everyone celebrated together between venues.<\/span><\/p>\n
Knowing the weekend would go by quickly, the couple also asked guests to use the POV disposable camera app throughout the festivities. The next morning they woke up to candid snapshots of costume parties, spontaneous tattoos at Koolsville Tattoo, and all of the party bus fun they hadn’t seen themselves.<\/span><\/p>\n

Turning a Historic Home Into an Old Vegas House Party<\/span><\/h2>\n
The reception took place at <\/span>Midcentury Manor<\/span><\/a>, once home to the businessman behind Caesars Palace and Circus Circus. It also happened to be the venue’s final wedding before closing to private events, giving the evening an extra layer of history.<\/span><\/p>\n
Las Vegas showgirls greeted guests with trays of champagne before everyone settled in for dinner, dancing, and conversation. Different areas naturally drew guests in different directions. Some headed straight for the dance floor while others grabbed dinner, visited the tarot tent, or caught up with friends around the property.<\/span><\/p>\n
The menu reflected the couple’s favorite indulgences: Italian and Mexican cuisine for dinner, burgers and fries later in the evening, and a dessert bar with something for every sweet tooth. Their DJ mixed Taylor Swift deep cuts into dinner before keeping the dance floor full the rest of the night.<\/span><\/p>\n
Then came one final surprise. When the venue owner gave them permission to jump into the pool after the last song—and even offered spare clothes, they didn’t hesitate. It became the perfect ending before everyone made their way back to Fremont Street.<\/span><\/p>\n

Personal touches appeared throughout in ways that reflected the people and memories closest to them. Without Bri knowing, Avery displayed photos of her grandparents in the reception entrance. Guests also took home custom poker chip magnets, while custom matchboxes and stationery carried the Old Vegas aesthetic throughout the celebration.<\/span><\/p>\n
More than anything, the couple wanted the weekend to reflect queer joy in a way that was unmistakably theirs. By the end of the weekend, many guests told them the wedding felt “so us,” which was exactly what they had hoped to hear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planning a destination queer Las Vegas wedding<\/span><\/a> came with plenty of moving pieces, but Bri credits their planner with taking much of the uncertainty out of the process.<\/span><\/p>\n
Looking back, she says the biggest lesson had little to do with decor or timelines.<\/span><\/p>\n
“A wedding is always going to have some elements of stress, but all of the hard work and time that you put into planning is going to pay off when things fall into place”<\/span><\/p>\n
Being able to spend the weekend fully present with each other and surrounded by the people they love made every planning decision worthwhile. That’s exactly what Bri remembers most when she looks back on their queer Las Vegas wedding.<\/span><\/p>\n
