Calling all music lovers–this one’s for you. Tanya and Nick’s retro wedding at <\/span>Buckinghamshire Railway Centre<\/span><\/a> is the epitome of unique. Using vintage pieces, plenty of macrame details from <\/span>Loubelle Macrame<\/span><\/a>, eclectic Turkish rugs, vibrant florals by <\/span>Ivy Amelia Florals<\/span><\/a>, and a coral color palette, the bride–whose own business, Daydreamer Creative Studio<\/a>, designed the entire day<\/span>–created a party that transported us back to the 70s. Not to mention Tanya’s <\/span>Grace Loves Lace<\/span><\/a> vintage-inspired gown and custom painted white leather jacket complete with tassels that perfectly matched the vibes of the day.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Rock n’ Roll Retro Wedding Day Vibe<\/span><\/h2>\n

We wanted a personal, relaxed boho vibe for our day with a 70s feel and we love everything retro or vintage. We weren’t worried about things matching or going together; and instead just picked out everything we loved. A lot of the decor were things we already had in our home, or I had collected from thrift shops. Everything else was borrowed from The Little Lending Company.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

DIYing the Wedding<\/span><\/h2>\n

I designed all the stationery, including the invitations, order of service, and menus. The table cloths I made out of dust sheets which I dip-dyed orange. I handmade all the napkins–dying baby muslins a beautiful rust color. Nick is a carpenter, so he cut lots of wood for signage– which I then stained, painted, and calligraphed. As a joint effort, we made our seating chart, which was one of our favorite things. Nick made the wooden frame, and I taught myself how to macrame so we could hang the wooden boards with the seating plan. I painted my bridal jacket–and if that wasn’t enough–a week before the wedding, I decided to add in tassels to the sleeves<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A Song-Filled Ceremony<\/span><\/h2>\n

To personalize our ceremony and share our love of music, we had a guest sing along to ‘Heroes’ by David Bowie sung by our musician Jon Hart. Then all the guests joined it. My sister then read the lyrics ‘Make Me Feel Your Love’ by Bob Dylan.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Why the Buckinghamshire Railway Centre<\/span><\/h2>\n

We wanted a unique venue that wasn’t too far away for friends and family. We weren’t having much luck, and it wasn’t until our florist, Victoria mentioned Buckinghamshire Railway Centre to us. When we went to check it out, as soon as we saw it, we fell in love with it. Our guests would feel like they had a ‘day out’ that they won’t forget for a while. How many wedding guests can say they’ve been to a wedding at a Railway Museum and gotten to ride on a vintage train?<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

A Musical Wedding Reception<\/span><\/h2>\n

The most memorable part of the day was when–in the evening–our band sang ‘Hey Jude’ and all of our friends and family circled around us, singing their hearts out. It was the moment we realized that everyone that we loved and cared about was right there with us; it felt magical.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
