Bianca and Ned’s industrial boho Maine wedding at <\/span>Brick South<\/span><\/a> was anything but traditional. The venue’s blank canvas allowed the couple–along with their planner <\/span>Pinch Me Planning<\/span><\/a>–to incorporate the details they were looking for on their special day and take their bohemian-inspired decor ideas to the next level. <\/span><\/p>\n

The burgundy and ivory bouquets and arrangements put together by <\/span>Broadturn Farm<\/span><\/a> perfectly complemented the peacock and equipale chairs provided by <\/span>A Family Affair of Maine<\/span><\/a>. The vintage amber glassware fit flawlessly with the farmhouse tables the couple chose for the reception. We can’t get enough of the photos–captured by Katelyn Mallett<\/a>–of the couple cheering to their life as newlyweds with their favorite beer from Bissell Brothers Brewing. “<\/span><\/i>Bianca and Ned’s elegant but moody Brick South wedding was such a beautiful beginning to winter. Not only was this Maine venue new for me to photograph, but grabbing a beer before the ceremony was a first as well! Bianca and Ned have been together for a very long time and wanted their wedding to be a big celebration for all of their guests. They were thoughtful in their choice for wedding drinks the night before, having an experiential horsebox bar, and choosing towers of donuts to end the night with.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The details were what transformed the industrial venue space into a cozy bohemian atmosphere. Pinch Me Planning headed the design, which was elevated even further with cool lounge areas from A Family Affair and dramatic industrial lighting by Event Lighting Concepts. You would never know this venue is a blank canvas before couples create their dream day. Bianca and Ned did a great job of showcasing their personality throughout the entire wedding.”<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Wedding Day Vibes<\/span><\/h2>\n

We knew from the start that achieving a memorable and unique vibe for our wedding was important. Once we started looking at warehouse venues, we knew we were on the right track. Without feeling too themed, we wanted to create a design that highlighted the amazing industrial space and the beauty of coastal Maine in the late autumn while also incorporating some modern bohemian touches–all while keeping it non-traditional and fun! With help from some truly amazing vendors, we created a vibe that really fit our personalities.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

How They Personalized the Ceremony<\/span><\/h2>\n

We’ve been dating since high school, so we are fortunate enough to have many mutual friends we’ve known for a long time. Our officiant was our high school friend, Eric, one of the funniest guys we know. He had the whole crowd (including us) both laughing and crying. <\/span><\/i>Joe, another long-time friend and former roommate selected and <\/span><\/i>read a Walt Whitman poem <\/span><\/i><\/a>that perfectly fit both our love and the mood of the whole event. <\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

We also wrote and read our own vows<\/span><\/i><\/a>, which we knew we wanted to do from the beginning.  <\/span><\/i><\/i>Finally, we kept everything in the ceremony non-religious, but we did end with the Jewish tradition of breaking a glass. To us, this symbolized marriage as a step after which, like the glass being broken, nothing would be the same.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

Why Brick South<\/span><\/h2>\n

Portland is one of our all-time favorite cities so that was a no-brainer. Brick South was a perfect fit because it provided a unique blank slate and effortlessly cool vibe in terms of design. We also loved that it could easily hold the large number of family and friends that we’ve accumulated over the years. Finally, the fact that it’s right next to the International Cryptozoology Museum and Bissell Brothers Brewing (two of our all-time favorite spots) felt like a good omen.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

The Wedding Favors<\/span><\/h2>\n

At the end of the night, we gave out caramel apples from Wilson’s Farm in Lexington, MA. Growing up, this was one of our favorite local treats. We thought it was the perfect takeaway snack after dancing the night away!<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n
