With sentimental value in the Blue Ridge Mountains, it was a no brainer for Anna Kate and Zane to have their wedding at Oskar Blues Reeb Ranch<\/a>. Blues Reeb offered the perfect mix of rustic and modern elements that are perfect for their eclectic wedding vibes. East West Vintage Rentals<\/a> provided mismatched chairs for the ceremony that added a bit of charm to their day. Anna Kate rocked a Moonlight Bridal<\/a> two piece wedding dress and Zane looked dapper as ever in his tux from The Black Tux<\/a>. These two celebrated with their family and friends with The Bus Booth<\/a> photo booth and Jade & May Co.<\/a> mobile bartender. Fox and Owl Studio<\/a> photographed the fun and joyous day!<\/p>\n

I work as a graphic designer and I was SO excited to design our day. All of the signage, stationery collateral, table numbers, place cards, and printed material were designed and hand-lettered by me.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Focus on the moment! During planning, even though it’s easy to get wrapped up in the visual decor of things, it’s important to try and remember the actual day itself. Hiring a wedding planner was hugely important to us because it allowed us to focus on the upcoming big day and actually enjoy it instead of worrying about the details.<\/em><\/p>\n

I grew up riding horses and was pretty much born in a barn, and always wanted to be married in one. It was also important for us to be married in the Blue Ridge Mountains, where I was raised and where Zane<\/span> proposed to me. The dairy barn at Reeb Ranch<\/a> fit those criteria and more. I loved the character of the white barn and the red doors, and the history behind it — it was built in the 1940s by German immigrants and was made entirely of concrete which allowed it to retain such good shape over the years. The property included a hidden bonus — a charming 1800s cabin in the woods just steps from the ceremony site, which served as the “bridal cabin”. A private double waterfall in the background of the cabin on the property sealed the deal for us.<\/em><\/p>\n

I wanted something that reflected our love of vintage ephemera and bohemian stye. Although we were picking a barn as our venue, we really did not want to go the typical rustic route so we leaned heavily on “eclectic” as our general vibe. One of the first decor items I planned were the vintage chairs, and the rest fell into place. Oriental rugs, mismatched plant stands, houseplants and a variety of vases were the perfect touch to my “eclectic” vibe, pulled together seamlessly by the crisp white backdrop of the barn front and chippy character of the barn interior. It was important for us to include sentimental aspects, my favorite of which being the cake topper we used which was used by both my mother and grandmother in their weddings as well.<\/em><\/p>\n

Our favorite photo taken by Fox & Owl<\/a> was definitely the one of us coming down the aisle together as newlyweds. I remember the overwhelming feeling of joy during that moment vividly, but to have it mirrored in a photograph is something we will cherish forever.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I wanted something easy, but beautiful, and effortless. My two-piece dress from Moonlight Bridal<\/a> was my favorite part because of how unique but comfortable it was. I wanted sleeves from the beginning, and I loved the idea of wearing my lace top later with a skirt to anniversary dinners so I didn’t have to put the dress away forever. <\/em><\/p>\n

Our photographers were the glue that held our day together. Shannon and Andrew of Fox & Owl Studio<\/a> are THE best to work with, and our day with them felt like we were spending time with old friends. We felt comfortable, relaxed and open with them, and were able to lean back and trust them to capture our vision.<\/em><\/p>\n

I wanted everything to feel authentically “us” and not get caught up in other ideas or visions once ours was decided. One of our first dates was going antiquing in a local antique mall and ever since, a love of ephemera has been part of our aesthetic. From the vintage chairs to the decor, we wanted it the entire day to feel eclectic and bohemian, much like our own home.<\/em><\/p>\n
