Rachel and Blake’s low-key wedding drew from details of The Old Fire Station Wanganui to create a modern aesthetic and unique celebration. The couple took inspiration from the industrial style of their venue to create a relaxed and elegant atmosphere. By focusing on the building’s clean lines and simple sophistication, the couple emphasized their bold color palette, fabulous cake and floral design by The Flower Room<\/a> for real wow factor. The theme was built around the gorgeous bridesmaid’s dresses from RUBY<\/a>: dramatic dark reds, mauvey pinks and corals that contrasted beautifully with the brides’ simple Alma J<\/a> dress. Photographer David Le<\/a> took the couple out into the surrounding countryside and captured them beautifully in New Zealand’s lush forests and rolling hills at sunset.<\/p>\n

The most important part of the day was to create a relaxed and fun atmosphere while also being elegant and classy. We wanted to bring all of our close friends and family together for an incredible night to not only celebrate us but the wonderful people in our lives so made us who we are today. <\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

Everything about our day was amazing but one thing that was really special to both Blake<\/span> & I was his sister Xanda singing as I walked down the isle. She has the most beautiful voice and we were so lucky she was willing to be a part of our ceremony.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

It is so important to remember that there is no right or wrong way to plan a wedding, go with your gut and it will all work out.<\/em><\/p>\n

I didn’t have a style inspiration as such but I knew I wanted our wedding to be a little bit different color wise, and wasn’t interested in going with a more neutral color way but I was unsure how to go about it until I fell in love with my bridesmaid’s dresses from RUBY. <\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

I took the colors of the dresses and used them throughout the venue decorations with touches of grey & gold to break it up a little. I loved the simplicity of my dress and how the black suits looked against the floral print of my bridesmaid’s dresses.<\/em><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

As a school girl I was a waitress for a catering company, after working an event at The Old Fire Station I knew one day I would plan my wedding there. It is such a beautiful building inside & out with such a great base it meant that we saved costs decorating. Because it was such a beautiful space as it was we focused on the flowers and the cake to bring a real wow factor.<\/em><\/p>\n

We have received so many comments about how beautiful the photos are from family & friends. This was a really important aspect of wedding planning as these are what will be kept forever. Prior to discovering Dave I was really struggling to find someone who’s aesthetic I really loved, I found him on Instagram and on a whim booked him without meeting or talking to him. He went over & above in his delivery of photos and we will treasure these forever.<\/em><\/p>\n
