Jan and George designed and created almost every inch of their Georgia wedding, including initial marquees, painted calligraphy signs, and metallic geometric shapes for their reception tables. Between their calligraphy-adorned suitcases, love letters, and table runners, the couple’s love of whimsical hand-lettering is evident! Our wedding vibe was boho chic, very light and airy. Opposite of traditional! I chose marsala, light grey and pastel pink colors because I love the combination of all three tones when put together. We also had lots of greenery details.<\/em><\/p>\n

Be organized and allow yourself some time if you are planning to do a lot of DIY projects, some stuff might seem easy on Pinterest but it might take some extra effort and time on real life. Also, don’t stress too much over the little things that go wrong along the way, no-one else will notice them except for you!<\/em><\/p>\n

In the months leading up to the wedding, I made all 60 geometric shapes that were used as part of the table decor that our guests dined on. They were made out of coffee straws, lots of patience and countless gold spray paint bottles! <\/em><\/p>\n

My friend and I also created the menu cards and we even made them in gold foil and deckled edges which I personally cut them all myself days before the wedding.<\/em><\/p>\n

We had assorted cacti plants placed in cute little reusable brown bags (also one of my DIY projects). I love collecting them, and they are just so fascinating – When the rain comes it stores water for the hard times to come. In good times and in bad it will still flower… It protects itself against danger, but it harasses no other plant. It adapts perfectly to almost any environment. We couldn’t think of something more fitting then cacti plants to offer our guests on our wedding day.<\/em><\/p>\n

We totally went DIY crazy, probably too much! Pretty much all of our wedding decor was handmade by me and my close friends – THANKS Pinterest! From the marquee letters with our initials hanging from the barn (which was actually one of my first DIY projects) to the linen napkins on the tables… All sewn by one of my bridesmaids.<\/em><\/p>\n

After our first dance when all guests were seated right before dinner took place, we decided to take a few minutes to look out at our guests, our surroundings, and each other to simply take it all and be grateful for all the important people in our lives and everything that came together that day. Seeing everyone we care about sitting together celebrating our love is a memory we will cherish forever!<\/em><\/p>\n
