Kimti’s Fijian-Indian heritage as well as her and Leigh’s Australian home inspired the couple to host their wedding weekend in the gorgeous Fiji Islands! The adventurous couple chose Garden of the Sleeping Giant<\/a> as their outdoor venue for its authentic tropical Fiji experience. From the crisp white color palette to the sophisticated florals, we can’t get enough of Kimti and Leigh’s British-Colonial-inspired reception décor. We chose to get married in Fiji because Kimti is Fijian-Indian and was born there. Her grandfather was a well known sugarcane farmer in the region. Kimti grew up in NZ, and Leigh in Australia and so Fiji was also a good mid-way point for many guests. We were keen to embrace a whole week of quality time with everyone who was able to join us.<\/em><\/p>\n

The mini pineapple that were used as buttonholes for the groomsmen were our favorite detail. They were super difficult to source but eventually Louise, our florist, got them out of her own garden.<\/em><\/p>\n

We chose the Garden of the Sleeping Giant<\/a> as our reasons for getting married in Fiji never included a desire for a resort wedding. We were interested in our guests getting to know the real\/local Fiji while they visit. We also wanted a venue with no noise restrictions and not such an early curfew!<\/em><\/p>\n

Saying our vows and being married in a tropical rain forest ceremony venue with light filtering through the trees was more wonderful than we ever could have imagined. Without a doubt, it will be the most fondly remembered part of the day for years to come. We had the exchange of garlands during our ceremony in the Garden of the Sleeping Giant<\/a>, which is a tradition in Hindu weddings.<\/em><\/p>\n

There was laughter the whole day through. At one point during our portrait session on top of a hill, Leigh’s best men turned up unexpectedly with a bottle of champagne and popped the champagne which went into every direction.<\/em><\/p>\n

We planned a unique, sort of British-Colonial extra large dinner party – some kind of event India Hicks would host.<\/em><\/p>\n
