When two of the world’s most renowned photographers pair up to capture a wedding, you know the resulting images are going to be nothing short of amazing. Needless to say, Gabe McClintock<\/a> and Fer Juaristi<\/a> did not disappoint! Sierra and John’s destination wedding in Sayulita, Mexico utilized the incredible natural backdrop of the ocean and a few minimalist elements to create a day focused on the beauty of their lives together. As if the wedding weren’t already exceptional enough, the Geminid meteor shower sent shooting stars bursting across the sky while guests released glowing lanterns above the waterfront reception.<\/p>\n

The Inspiration:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Simplicity, and a celebration of the natural. We chose a spectacular setting, so it would have been foolish to try and decorate. We didn’t need an altar, with the clouds and waves and sunset behind us. For dinner, we chose a single long table for the 85 guests and packed the center with candles and a simple green foliage garland. Lights overhead and candles all down the beach and that was it: we didn’t need anything else. We lit sky lanterns and released them over the ocean, just as the Geminid meteor shower lit up the sky with shooting stars.<\/em><\/p>\n

Inspired by Tom Ford, Rick Owens and Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, my<\/span> mom made her dress. Amidst all the expensive lace and sequined tulle poofy princess dresses, I<\/span> hadn’t found anything elegant and minimal. My mother and I designed the dress together: a belted silk column with a cape back and cap sleeves. It was the most beautiful dress I have ever worn.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Moments:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

We’re sure everyone says this, but being able to celebrate with our friends and family was a true gift. Because we had a destination wedding, the party started on Thursday and went through Monday morning, creating a sense of community that our friends are still remarking on, months later.<\/em><\/p>\n

The Couple Recommends:<\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Gabe McClintock is one in a million. We researched a few hundred photographers and his work was simply the best: elegant, beautiful, restrained. He has a rare sense of composition, color and space. We felt fortunate to have found him and Fer Juaristi, who joined for the party. And they were so easy and fun to work with.<\/em><\/p>\n

Our wedding planner, Yazmin Gizeh, was wonderful: we would recommend her to anyone. And our caterer, Andres at ByB, went the extra mile: meeting us at the airport when we arrived, and preparing dishes just as we’d asked. Easy to work with, totally professional, and kind.<\/em><\/p>\n
