Jacquelyn and Adam’s sophisticated color palette of plum, white and gray was the perfect complement to the rustic ambiance at the repurposed newspaper building where they held their happy wedding day. I love the contrast of their elegant decor with the steel windows and crumbling bricks of Summerour Studio<\/a>. And while the juxtaposition of refined and rustic is nothing new, they added plenty of touches – such as a tuxedo-clad pug and a gourmet popsicle truck – to make the day completely their own!<\/p>\n

What were the top three priorities for you in planning your wedding?<\/b> Our top three priorities were: first and foremost, selecting a venue that fit our personality and had distinct character and style; second, creating a party-like atmosphere rather than a formal event; and finally, selecting vendors that were able to translate our visions into reality in a way that truly reflected our own taste and style.<\/i><\/p>\n

What wedding traditions or cultural traditions did you incorporated into your wedding and what did they mean to you?<\/b> Virtually every facet of our wedding event was planned in a non-traditional manner… from wedding playlist to open seating. However, we were steadfast in our commitment to not see one another the day of the wedding until the ceremony. We each sequestered ourselves in hotels across town from one another the night before and did not see each other again until the wedding processional. The anticipation, excitement, (and Adams reaction) were well worth the wait.<\/i><\/p>\n

Where there any places where you broke the rules in your wedding planning? Why and how did you do that?<\/b> We broke the rule of tradition when we elected to get married in an old newspaper factory! We also skirted tradition with our choice to skip readings, but instead write letters to one another that our reverend would hold as secret until their ceremony reveal. We also wrote our own vows. We had open seating at tables, hi-boys, and lounge chairs was a bit surprising for guests, but the icing on the cake was when coffee hour was replaced with a visit from King of Pops and his gourmet popsicle cart. Oh, and did we mention that our 19lb. pug, Dexter, was our ring bearer? Need we say more about breaking the rules?<\/i><\/p>\n

What was your biggest wedding planning success?<\/b> Simply put, we achieved our dream wedding! From hand-selecting every piece of music played, to choosing a caterer that people are still talking about, a designer that brought our vision to life, a photographer that captured our joy in each moment, a reverend that embodied our values, and a venue that will forever be uniquely ours.<\/i><\/p>\n
