This Grand Rapids Wedding Has the Most Romantic Color Palette You’ve Ever Seen

Between the lush plants in the greenhouse ceremony space and the vintage jewel-tone furniture in warehouse reception venue, Brielle and Rob’s Grand Rapids wedding was a colorful masterpiece! The couple had originally wanted to have an outdoor wedding, but decided to compromise — and not take a chance with the weather — by getting married in a greenhouse, which offered a similarly natural and dreamy garden setting. Their reception at The Cheney Place warehouse was a beautiful mix of vintage-meets-modern vibes that featured vintage furniture, sparkly gold table runners, and disco balls all set against exposed brick and rustic wood pillars. Tana Helene Photography did an incredible job capturing all of the intricate details of this wedding, as well as the romantic and silly moments between this beautiful couple, which included an immediate pit stop after the ceremony to enjoy some ice cream!

Our dream was to be married outside, but with the finicky Michigan weather, we weren’t too sure. One of our reception team members suggested the Downtown Market Grand Rapids. It was the perfect compromise! Having ice cream and tacos on site didn’t hurt either. Our reception site was love at first sight. We switched to a Friday ceremony just so we could have The Cheney Place. From the large open concept to the vintage furniture, it was the perfect mix of modern and romantic that we had to have.

I made all of our day of paper goods myself: programs, gold foiled menus, escort cards, etc. Our biggest DIY project, though, was our ceremony backdrop. The day before the wedding, my dad and some groomsmen used large PVC piping, curtains from the house I grew up in, and 25 feet of fresh eucalyptus to construct our drapery and greenery backdrop. It was one of my favorite pieces from the whole day!

After the ceremony and family photos, we grabbed some ice cream from our venue and snapped some photos of us enjoying it. It was in those moments when we realized, “We did it!” There is pure, 100% honest joy in every one of those photos. (Also, it was my first meal all day, so…)

As a gift to the married members of our bridal party, as well as our parents, we used one of my vintage typewriters to jot down a few lines from ‘their song,” framed them, and used them as extra decor around the reception. They got to take them home afterwards. Most of them actually still have them on display at their homes, which always just makes us so happy to see!

  1. Hello! I love your wedding pallet. I see where you got your bridesmaid dresses, but can you tell me the colors you used for them? Thank you!

  2. Hi! Would like to know what are the colours used for the bridesmaid dresses? Thanks.

  3. Hi there!
What a fantastic gallery! Thank you for sharing.

I’m joining Becky and Alexandria here to inquire about the colors of the bridesmaid dresses. It’s exactly what I’m looking to replicate for my wedding in October. I’ve reached out to The Dessy Group but thought I’d try my luck here as well. Any information would be incredibly helpful. Thank you!
