This Masseria Potenti Wedding in Puglia Nails Rustic Italian Effortlessness

June 19, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

If you think you’ve seen dreamy Italian romance, just wait until you see this stunning wedding at Masseria Potenti. Puglia, which is located in the southern “heel” of Italy’s boot, is known for its whitewashed houses, ceramic art, and cactus trees that rival any desert. So, to embrace all of those distinct characteristics, Elisabeth and Julian forewent over-the-top decor in favor of a rustic and airy feel, which they accomplished with an abundance of greenery, cactus-themed table numbers and favors, and all-white florals and bridal party style. The couple’s main goal was to give their guests not only a weekend getaway but a day that was filled with dancing and music rather than anything too formal. After seeing the effortless design and epic dance-offs that Lilly Red Creative captured, we think you’ll agree that they nailed their goal!

The Couple:

Elisabeth and Julian

The Wedding:

Masseria Potenti, Puglia, Italy

We looked at probably about 20 locations in Spain and Italy and none of them compared to Masseria Potenti. It had something magical about it, and we knew immediately we wanted to get married there and nowhere else. We wanted our guests to have a weekend getaway and to offer them an experience they might otherwise not have had. So, the culture and the location in Puglia was ideal because not many people we know had been there. It’s still quite rustic compared to northern Italy and has a really special culture and traditions.

I had two wedding dresses! One was my great-grandmother’s dress, handed down over generations. It’s over 100 years old! I only had the underdress altered slightly, otherwise, it fit me perfectly. I loved the fact that my mom, my aunt, my grandmother, and my great-grandmother had already worn it and that it was one-of-a-kind and somehow still contemporary. My second dress was a custom-made, American Hustle inspired dress with a deep V-neck. It was great because I could really dance in it and it was completely different than my first dress — it was a lot sexier!

Puglia is famous for its ceramic art tradition, dating back hundreds of years, and the local cacti were a theme on our invitations and photos. So we chose a small ceramic cactus leaf as a wedding favor. Guests could hang it on their walls or use it as a table decoration or a soap dish. One person even used it as a candle holder.

We wanted to take our guests out of their everyday lives, and we wanted our reception to be very lively with lots of music and dancing rather than a long sit-down dinner. So, the most memorable moment was when we were getting changed for the evening and looked out of the window to see all our guests already on the dancefloor with the incredible band!

This Vintage Inspired Wedding Shoot at Dairyland is Full of Pops of Color

June 18, 2018 | Junebug Weddings

This wedding inspiration at Dairyland shows you that you don’t have to have a rustic wedding at a barn venue. With pops of color galore and not any burlap in sight, Rock & Stone Weddings helped coordinate a stunning wedding with some major vintage vibes. Larxhead provided a dip-dyed macrame for the ceremony space that was topped by some dreamy florals designed by Colibri Blooms. The warm color palette gives a romantic and playful energy that matches the bride’s flirty and fun Sarah Varca Bridal wedding dress perfectly. We are so in awe of all of the details that were chosen and designed with such intention that Carley Jayne Azorit photographed so well.

I am a florist & decor stylist and work in the wedding industry myself. I always knew that I want to plan a small intimate wedding with close friends and family. I love planning elaborate weddings with brides but I’ve seen how the stress levels of the day can take away those special intimate moments. It was very important for us to keep the wedding very personal and small with 24 guests. We did arrange a massive engagement party with 40 friends to still celebrate will everyone we love dearly – where we then explained the concept of our dinner-style small wedding and everyone was very supportive.

We planned our wedding in 2 months – yes it is possible! Got engaged on 28 October and married 28 December 2017. I think it is important to not overthink everything and just go with your gut feeling. It should be fun and I’m sure you already have a good idea of what you want/envision.

The moment my dad walked into my room to take me down the aisle and handing me over to Alexander. From the time I was about 7 years old, I imagined myself on my wedding day – with my dad by my side. The bond between father and daughter is priceless and that moment he looks at you in your wedding dress is unforgettable.

Maryke Albertyn was extraordinary in everything that she did! I feel she captured the essence of our wedding – our love for each other and our love for our family and friends. The wedding is now over – we are starting our journey as a married couple and this adventure is only the beginning of many more, but Maryke Albertyn achieved to let those memories stay alive forever.

About two years ago, my parents moved to a quaint little village called Grootbrak-river in the Southern Cape. I fell in love with the whole area and surroundings! It has an old-world charm which speaks to my soul. The oldest house in town is called the Riversyde Manor. We often go for walks on the banks of the river that the house is built on and there are canoe boats to row on the river. From the first time I saw it, I knew I want to get married at that house. It reminded me of the house in The Notebook after Noah renovated it for Allie. Riversyde Manor is a boutique guesthouse with only 5 rooms. We managed to book all the rooms for our guests and also to make sure that the whole house will be ours for the big day. It is not a venue so all the catering and decor had to be rented in.

I draw inspiration from Baroque art in my everyday life. Characterized by great drama, rich, deep colour, and intense light and dark shadows. It was just natural to have a continuation of my personal style in the wedding colours. It should be a reflection of your personality and taste.

Because our wedding was so small – a lot of people were involved with the finer details to make it very personal. My dad baked the wedding cake and my mom’s friends took care of all the food preparations while the neighbour’s kids helped out as waiters. It really felt like a family feast!
