This Classic German Wedding at Hochzeitshaus Aurich Has Some Unconventional Details

September 23, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

Imke and Sönke’s classic wedding at elegant 19th century villa turned modern hotel at Hochzeitshaus Aurich or ‘Wedding House’ in a charming German village was full of romantic décor and rustic details like a bohemian teepee. The couple chose natural colors found in the spacious garden like blue, rose and green, reflected in the gorgeous centerpieces and explosively full bouquets of oversized, colorful blooms by Melanie Noorman Hochzeitsfloristik. The bride’s look was full-on fairytale chic, from her elegant gown from Elbbraut with delicate lace details to her beautiful braided up do with peacock feathers and fresh flowers. We love the rain and tears featured in the couple’s heartfelt first look from Maria Dittrich Photography, underneath their umbrellas in the heart of Aurich’s historic Old Town district, such an authentic and genuine moment.

The Couple:

Imke and Sönke

The Wedding:

Hochzeitshaus Aurich, Germany

For us it was very important that we find ourselves in every detail. This should be OUR wedding and not a wedding that had been organized and arranged for the guests. We put emphasis on this, so that our ideas and concepts would be achieved.

This was the most impressive moment and this is the moment that we will always remember. It was really beautiful when we saw each other for the first time, being alone and without hundreds of eyepairs looking at us. The first look was a very emotional and touching moment for us.

We would advice couples to design and organize the wedding according to their own wishes and expectations. To focus on their selves and their partner on this so a special day. Because it is about you as the wedding couple. It is your wedding day.

We chose the “Hochzeitshaus” (Wedding House in German) because it is a classic and natural venue. It already is, without excesive preparations, a special venue, elegant and classic. The Bar and also the garden fit very well with us and with our wedding concept.

We chose blue, rose, red and a lot of green, because this combination reflects our personality as a couple. It was important for us to have use natural and not exagerated colours.

We gave our guests a little jar of jam with a label designed accordingly with the stationery we used. We wanted to show our guests that we are very happy that they are celebrating with us. We chose marmalade, because this is a natural product and we hope that our guests think about us and our wedding, while savouring this delicious homemade marmalade.

Laid-Back Panama Wedding at The Firefly Bocas Del Toro

September 23, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

An adventurous destination wedding was the only option for Deniz and Andrés, who initially bonded over their multicultural backgrounds and mutual desire to see the world. Boho chic surf-island bed and breakfast, The Firefly Bocas Del Toro was the only option for their intimate and authentic celebration. The couple’s emotional ceremony directly overlooked the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean from a secluded beach. Photographer Megan Yanz had an incredible time catching the photogenic details of this real wedding: we love everything from the tropical boat taxis and rustic waterfront restaurant to the freshly cut exotic flowers by Feisty Flowers and the bride’s crochet modern-bohemian Spell and the Gypsy gown.

The Couple:

Deniz and Andrés

The Wedding:

The Firefly, Bocas Del Toro, Panama

We knew we wanted to have a beach wedding and that we wanted to share not only our wedding day but a vacation with those closest to us. Andres‘ father is from Panama so we knew Bocas Del Toro, Panama would be the perfect place to have it.

The morning of the wedding all the ladies walked around the island to forage flowers for mine and my daughter’s bouquet. We ended up finding the perfect flowers in a homeowner’s garden and he was kind enough to cut some down for us. My friend is a florist back home and was able to whip together the bouquets.

Once the reception ended we had to get on two small boat taxis to take us back to the other islands. The moment everyone was aboard and we started moving a torrential downpour began. Everyone was soaking wet and loving every second of it. This was the only time it rained our entire trip so we consider it a divine blessing.

If you are looking at doing a small Caribbean destination wedding, there are so many more options than an all inclusive resort. It takes some research, but it is possible to plan the wedding yourself. You can also save a lot of money renting a house instead. We were lucky enough to find a beautiful beachfront home to stay in where they agreed to let us hold our ceremony on the beach. We then went out to dinner afterwards.

Since we were restricted with weight limits for our flight into Bocas I didn’t bring much as far as decorations for our ceremony on the beach. That said, it was important to me to find a reception venue that fit our style and The Firefly was just that. The vibe of the restaurant is tropical bohemian.

The speeches from our friends and family were the most memorable part of the day for us. We really felt a constant stream of love and support as one speech ended and the next began.

Our favorite photo is the picture where we are all sitting at the long table during a speech. Not only does it encompass our love for each other but the intimacy and bond that we have with our close loved ones.

Intimate Palm Springs Wedding at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club

September 22, 2017 | Junebug Weddings

When A. and O. had to quickly alter their wedding plans from a large celebration in San Francisco, an intimate Palm Springs wedding became their perfect plan B. The couple chose luxury boutique Ace Hotel Palm Springs, a retro 70’s style with mid-century modern desert aesthetic just outside of Joshua Tree National Park. After the intimate and inviting ceremony, photographer Vivian Chen drove out to the desert plains with the couple, capturing them overlooking the mountains, exploring the rugged rock formations and stark landscape. The bride’s LOHO gown looked stunningly ethereal against the sparse Southern California scenery and twisted Joshua trees and cacti. We love the way this couple celebrated their love over fancy tacos and drinks with only their closest family and friends.
