Hello! We are Iris and Echo... a fine art photojournalistic portrait and wedding photography team located just outside of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (and ready to travel worldwide anytime). We're a fun and relaxed mixture of love, laughter, sarcasm, coffee, and creativity; proudly woman and mother owned and run.  

 

We focus on combining a deep love of documentary art making with an authentic personalized experience. From first exchanged emails all the way to delivering final images (and hopefully beyond), we work to get to know our couples on a personal level. Striving to create a more meaningful creative experience is really important to us. The result is the ability to produce true documentary images, unique to each love story.

Important to the creation and uniqueness of Iris and Echo is my (Maria’s) education and background. I am a classically trained artist and portrait painter with both a BFA and MFA in fine art. I move between the two realms of photography and painting fluidly, even teaching how they relate to one another at the college level. Each art form inspires and guides the process for the other. This all helps make Iris and Echo more than a business. It is a passion.

We hired Maria from Iris and Echo to photograph our wedding in September 2022. She is professional, encouraging, personable, flexible and so comfortable to work with! My wife and I were immediately taken by her responsiveness, engagement and palpable excitement about our love story. Maria helped us navigate her various packages and never once pushed us to upgrade beyond what we needed. Later in the planning process she offered a very fairly priced second-shooter to help us capture our priority shots as well as my wife's mother's priority shots without compromising our schedule for the day. She arrived on-time and was present without being overbearing during the day. She respected us as a couple with the way she approached us, made suggestions and encouraged us throughout the day. Speaking with her via email, on Zoom and in-person made both my wife and I feel at ease, as if we were talking to a friend! We quickly received sneak peeks via Instagram and are so excited to see the full spread of photos she captured. Maria and her assistant shooter (Ashley) never once made us feel stressed and if they were ever stressed on our wedding day, we had no idea! She worked well with our families, other vendors and venue. I would jump at the chance to have Maria photograph any other special occasion in our lives and highly recommend her to any couples looking for a conscientious, patient, warm and professional photographer - she is an artist!
