The Couple: Neha and Vedant
The Wedding: 5.25-26.13 – Hilton Cincinnati Netherland Plaza, Cincinnati, Ohio
The Photographer: Studio Uma
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Neha and Vedant: Colorful, meaningful, fun.
Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Neha: We knew our wedding was going to be a big event since our families know so many people, but we wanted to keep it as personal as possible. My family and my husbands family are from 2 different parts of India but we really wanted to focus on incorporating as many traditions from both sides as possible. The ceremony was really a collaborative effort. We also wanted to be sure that people knew some of the details about us as a couple – things we liked and places wed been. We spent most of our relationship as a long-distance couple, with me (the bride) in Cincinnati and him in Cleveland. The Hilton provided table numbers for us, but we chose to make our escort cards resemble Cincinnati Bengals tickets (since that was our first date). We also decided to have table names that gave the name of one of our favorite places, and why it mattered to us as a couple.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Neha and Vedant: Having so much family around us was wonderful. A lot of our extended family lives in India, and the fact that two of our grandfathers flew over for the wedding meant so much. I think the fact that we didnt see each other before the wedding also built up some of the anticipation – we were engaged for 18 months so it was a long time coming! Our first dance also meant a lot. We hadnt seen each other for a month prior to the wedding, so it was the first quiet moment the two of us had, and even though we were surrounded by people we were able to focus on being with each other.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Studio Uma and her imagery?
Neha and Vedant: We knew when we began looking that we wanted a photographer who was familiar with Indian weddings and some of the traditions involved. As soon as I saw Umas pictures I was drawn to the way she was able to show so much beauty through such simple images. Her creativity and willingness to go the extra mile to get a beautiful shot also shown through. She was such a joy to have around us on our wedding day – she kept us calm and as you can see, delivered fantastic photos!
Thanks Neha and Vedant for sharing your joyful celebration with us! Uma, thank you for capturing it all with such creativity and vibrant color. Visit Studio Uma’s blog and website to see more outstanding wedding photography.
