Alix and Matt knew one thing for certain when they began planning their wedding; they wanted their guests to be entertained and relaxed, without an ounce of boredom. Their vision was perfectly suited for the delightful British countryside venue of Aynhoe Park. Guests spent their time exploring rooms simply overflowing with secrets and surprises; including a giant polar bear, a giraffe in a top hat and disco balls mingling with ancient sculptures. With no lack of fun photo backdrops, Marianne Taylor Photography captured Alix and Matt’s colorful and playful day with such beauty, you will be grinning as widely as their guests.
The Couple: Alix and Matt
The Wedding: 8.18.12 – Aynhoe Park, Oxfordshire, UK
Junebug: What were your most important goals in planning your wedding?
Alix and Matt: We wanted to create a party where everyone felt special and, more importantly, relaxed enough to have fun. I also wanted it to feel very fluid so that people didnt get bored or end up waiting around for too long. I also wanted to include my friends and family in everything so my sister and best friend did readings which they had written themselves and my friends and family baked cakes for our cake table.
Junebug: How would you describe your personal wedding style?
Alix and Matt: Relaxed, friendly and fun!
Junebug: Where did you hold your wedding and reception, and why?
Alix and Matt: We held it at Ayhoe Park. It took me a long time to find it but its literally the most amazing venue Ive ever seen – my friends are still talking about it. There is so much going on in every single room that its impossible to get bored and there are countless photo opportunities.
Junebug: What three adjectives describe your wedding best?
Alix and Matt: Fun, magical and personal
Junebug: What were you looking for in a photographer?
Alix and Matt: I wanted someone who could brilliantly capture the mood of the day, who wasnt too intrusive and who concentrated on capturing the real moments rather than lots of staged photographs.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Marianne Taylor and her imagery?
Alix and Matt: Marianne manages to create a story with her photographs so that you can relive the wedding even if you werent actually there.
Junebug: What did you enjoy most about working with your photographer?
Alix and Matt: Honestly? That I didnt even know she was there! I never felt Marianne intruded on any of the special moments between me and my husband and yet she actually did capture them all – a real feat!
The Photographer: Marianne Taylor Photography
Junebug: How did you approach this particular wedding and what did you most want to capture during shooting?
Marianne Taylor: The venue was so quirky that it really was a photographers dream. All the details of the wedding were absolutely beautiful and I loved the colours, but most of all I loved all the beaming people enjoying the day and the sunshine. It really was a glorious day.
Junebug: Were there any special photographic requests from the couple that made this wedding especially exciting creatively or personally?
Marianne Taylor: It was nice that the couple trusted me to do my job and left the artistic decisions to me, I think that freedom always provides the best coverage.
Junebug: What was the most fun part of this wedding for you to photograph?
Marianne Taylor: Happy people enjoying the sunshine and good vibes.
Junebug: How did the locations available to you affect the type of images you shot and how you shot them?
Marianne Taylor: Well, there was a giraffe and a polar bear with a hat. Need I say more?
Junebug: What kind of equipment did you use while shooting this wedding?
Marianne Taylor: This wedding was shot entirely digitally. Canon EOS 5D mk III & mk I with a selection of Canon lenses.
A big thank you to Alix and Matt for sharing their wedding day with us and to Marianne Taylor for capturing it so wonderfully!
