What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?Tony proposed to me at a movie theater where he showed a 8 minute movie he created about our relationship. We enjoy living in Manhattan NYC and going to movie screenings, fashion and magazine parties, and being out in the city that never sleeps. I have been working in fashion my whole life and used our wedding as a chance to pull it all together as a fun look for our event. Tony DJs and is into sneaker culture. We knew we wanted a destination wedding and picked South Beach since we visit there at least once a year. We knew South Beach would have the vibe and look at we were going for and would give our guests lots to do when they were there. The Marriott Ocean Drive location is right in the heart of South Beach and walking distance to shops, restaurants, and bars. We blended these inspirations as we began our planning. We chose to have the ceremony and reception outside overlooking the ocean to create a laid-back vibe. We had no set schedule for anything during the entire wedding, we wanted the day to flow freely and the events to happen organically.

Our friend Corrie designed save the date postcard invitations that looked like a movie premiere invite. Our logo of G&T was developed on the save the date and we continued to use the logo throughout as branding for our wedding. We used our logo for the hospitality bags, sunglasses bags, and step and repeat. I found the perfect dress at Betsey Johnson in SoHo, I knew I wanted something unique and not white in color. Tonys outfit was centered around wearing his grandfathers guaybera in his honor. We asked our male guests to also wear them as a theme. For our wedding Tony and I each had 2 pairs of sunglasses and shoes. We changed our look for the reception and Tony put on a fedora. We had movie ticket stubs in frames on the tables at the reception from movies we had seen together. Our candy table featured our favorite movie theater candy and the labels looked like film reels and had our logo on them. We placed dominoes on the tables to play which is a tradition in Puerto Rico where Tonys father and his family is from.

Our overall objective was we wanted everyone to have fun and to be on vacation time.

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? We loved our first look when we saw it each other for the first time on our wedding day. We loved seeing everyone’s reaction when we put on the custom-made Nike ID sneakers at the end of cocktail hour and seeing all of the cameras come out to take pics of them. Taking pictures on the pink carpet with the step and repeat behind it was fun and made our guests feel like celebrities. I loved seeing our guests wearing the sunglasses we handpicked for each of them. We liked our planned surprise of the fire dancers and seeing everyone’s reactions. Towards the end of the reception, Tony break-danced and our photographers captured the moment. He also had a dance battle with one of his best men.

Wedding color palette: Inspired by our invitations we focused on hot pink, turquoise, and accents of bright yellow. These colors were based on the TV Show Miami Vice and to accentuate the pastel and art deco vibe of South Beach Miami.
