Cher and John searched high and low for the perfect venue for their laid-back California wedding, and when they stumbled upon this private residence in the woods, they knew it was the one. Every inch of the wedding reflected some part of Cher and John’s relationship, from the bride’s vintage lace gown to a reading of Where The Wild Things Are during the ceremony. Photographers Helena and Laurent captured the essence of the day in every frame, and we especially love the couple portraits of Cher and John walking alongside a few neighboring horses.

My favorite moment was when I saw John popping up on the hills while I waited for him in the woods for the first look.

The general direction of the wedding style was heavily inspired by the property John found for our wedding. We visited quite a few properties before we settled on this one, each with its own charm and couldn’t be more different from another, but when we saw this property, we immediately knew it was the one. The property has an open floor plan and was tastefully decorated with little bits and pieces from the owner’s past. It was all very quaint and nostalgic.
