Creating a day full of love, family, and being true to who they are, Justin and Madison envisioned a stress-free, rustic wedding with neutral touches. The couple set a neutral color theme and allowed their wedding party to choose their own attire. The groom, who owns Pioneer Goods Co., supplied vintage, rustic decor to fill the open space of The Portland Company in Maine. Cafe lights hung from the wood beamed ceiling, creating a romanic setting for the couple to exchange vows. We absolutely love how Justin and Madison chose to have a pizza bar for their guests and gifted them with homemade jars of jam! Making sure not to miss a moment, Photography by Henry + Mac captured genuinely beautiful photos of the couple on their big day!

The Couple:

Justin and Madison

The Wedding:

The Portland Company, Portland, Maine

The Inspiration:

We chose the Portland Company as our venue because it gave us the freedom to fully transform a space to our liking. The bones of the space are amazing- exposed brick, wide pine floors, and a view of Portland Harbor. Justin owns a store, Pioneer Goods Co., where he sells curated vintage home goods. His aesthetic is rustic, farmhouse, and industrial, and we wanted this vibe to translate into our wedding decor. We sourced old farmhouse doors, shutters, and crates to make the space feel intimate, warm, and worn-in, and we filled hundreds of vintage bottles with loose flowers. We wanted our guests and our wedding party to feel as comfortable as possible, so we chose a neutral color pallette and allowed people to choose their own attire. My wedding day fashion was relaxed and comfortable- a simple lace dress from BHLDN and minimal jewelry. We wanted to keep the sparkle to a minimum- the day was more about love, family, and being true to who we are in our everyday lives.

The Moments:

It may sound cliche, but honestly, the moment we were declared man and wife! There was so much build-up to that moment, but to have it be official was the best feeling. If you watch our wedding video, you can see Justin do some sort of laugh/cry/fist pump combination when our officiant declared us married- it’s really the best way to describe how we felt in that moment!

The Couple Recommends:

As small business owners ourselves, we made an effort to work with other small, independent businesses. Dana and Zak (of Henry and Mac) were our photographers, and they worked with us throughout the planning process. They connected us to our wedding videographers, Dani and Mike from Sailor Abe Films. Mary-Theresa Tringale was our day-of coordinator, and our wedding day wouldn’t have been the same without her. She went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure things ran smoothly behind the scenes, and to ensure we were relaxed and at-ease. Since we planned the wedding ourselves, and were responsible for the complete set-up and break-down of our event, she coordinated with the outside vendors to ensure our vision was fully executed.
