Inspired by the exotica of old-world sea ports, Kristin combined nautical elements, the eclecticism of gypsy travelers and a rich and dramatic color palette of navy, cinnamon and orange with hints of celadon and gold to create a fantasy-filled environment for this wedding at Korakia Pensione in Palm Springs, California. Multiple layers of colors, textures and fabrics were used to set the scene along with thoughtful details like pomegranates, figs, compasses, sea-glass floats, nautical rope and a mixture of collected trays and vessels.

During the wedding ceremony the aisle was lined with lanterns and bowls of fruit, and the altar was defined by a collection of Belgian rugs and groupings of lanterns, seaglass bottles and dark wooden bowls of flowers, fruit and nautical elements. The pool was embellished with hammered brass bowls and candles floating on the surface. Guests sat in wooden chairs and were shaded by dramatic tent frames draped in layers of textiles torn and gathered like makeshift gypsy cabanas. As guests entered the ceremony they were offered sangria and cucumber mint water from the rustic wooden bar.

Following the ceremony guests were led down a lantern-lined path to the Moroccan poolside where they enjoyed a variety of colorful and exotic cocktails and hors doeuvres. During dinner guests sat at tables set in an exotic gypsy tent village scene and enjoyed a family style dinner. Tents draped in shredded fabric and tied with rope and tassels framed the area and glowing lanterns hung overhead.

Following dinner, guests were surprised by a variety of indulgent desserts that were served as they made their way to the dance floor and the fire pit surrounded by exotic rugs, low woven chairs and colorful floor pillows. The ceremony area was transformed into a romantic lounge under the stars, and in the early hours of the morning as guest walked back to their rooms, they were met by a hot dog vendor offering fresh hot dogs and root-beer floats to finish off the evening. Amazing!
