Happy New Year everybody! We’re so excited about the year ahead, and so thrilled to start it off with our 2011 Best of the Best Photo Collection! 50 images chosen from 5,000, submitted by 500 talented wedding photographers, this year’s Photo Collection is full of photos that blew our minds and touched our hearts. Choosing which ones to include was, as always, an honor and a serious challenge that took us through dozens and dozens of heart-wrenching reviews.

Throughout this year’s process we were consistently inspired, astounded and humbled by the images created, and very grateful to the photographers who shared their work with us. In the end we had to choose just 50 images, and what an incredible 50 they are! Stylish Bridal Portraits by Adam Nyholt

Bridal portrait sessions are a popular part of wedding photography throughout the South, and I think it's a lovely (and awfully fun) tradition! Take a peek at these beautiful bridal portraits by Houston wedding photographer Adam Nyholt. Wouldn't you love to have images of yourself as gorgeous as these?

From the bride, Jennifer: I found my dress at Casa de Novia Bridal Couture. I knew I wanted to wear Monique Lhuillier and there were only two boutiques in Houston who carried the designer. It did not take me long to realize I had found the dress. I wanted something classic and sophisticated, and I wanted it to be lace with the buttons down the back. This dress had it all! To make it my own we added extra lace to extend the train and a Swarovski crystal belt. It was absolutely stunning!

Jen and Brodie's wedding film from Mitch Mattraw at cabfare productions is so sweet, fun and authentic that I'm positive it will have you dancing in your chair and smiling all the way through from beginning to end (don't miss the dancing at the end)! I love their vintage wedding style and Pacific Northwest barn location, the spirit of Jen, Brodie and their family and friends, and most of all the brilliant way that Mitch captured the essence of this wedding day. Happy New Year! Today is one of our very favorite days of the year because today is the day we launch our 2010 Best of the Best – our image gallery of the best wedding photos of 2010! That’s right, it’s live right now in our Fashion Report section, and this year’s collection is simply to die for. We just can’t wait to share it with you!

To say that the quantity and quality of submissions we received this year from wedding photographers all around the world was amazing would be an understatement, and narrowing it down from thousands to just 50 was no easy task. We were inspired, astounded and humbled by the images created, and we’re so grateful to all of the talented photographers who shared their work with us. It's photos like these that reinforce our love for the art of wedding photography, and for all of those who work tirelessly day after day to create it. Traditional and Modern Day-After Wedding Photo Shoot

Gorgeous couple Donna and Minh brought their family and friends to Vancouver for a destination wedding in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, and the day after the wedding they hit the town, and the forest, for an amazing day-after photo shoot with their photographer Melia Sorenson of Lucida Photography. Starting the shoot downtown where the wedding had taken place, they captured Donna in her traditional Vietnamese wedding dress, and then drove out to Lighthouse Park in West Vancouver to take advantage of the deep forest and coastal feel that the bride and groom love so much. These images are so romantic and dreamy, and I love the way they span the styles and atmospheres that the represent this truly modern couple.

Phenomenal Films - Edit 1 Media

As soon as I saw this lovely same day edit video, I knew I had to share it. The team at Edit 1 Media did a brilliant job capturing the feel of a rainy Northwest day. Watching those opening sequences I can practically feel the raindrops hitting my skin and smell the rain in the air, and the glowing light surrounding the couple, Billie Sue and Bobby, is what makes documenting weddings in this part of the world so beautiful. Although the rain was an unexpected (and unwelcome) guest at the wedding, Edit 1 owner Chris told us, "after watching the Same Day Edit, Billie Sue realized that the rain really became a part of the mood and feel of the day." Now that's a sure sign of a phenomenal wedding film!
