Bachelorette Weekend Vintage Fashion and Beauty Inspiration

This unbelievably cute vintage fashion photo shoot from photographer Heather Kincaid celebrates the fun of a bachelorette weekend away, and is full of beauty, fashion and styling ideas that would be perfect for any bride and her bridesmaids, for an engagement party, rehearsal dinner or for a wedding day. The team at Fiore Beauty, one of our super talented Southern California Junebug members, was kind enough to give us the inside scoop on how to get the to-die-for hair and makeup looks used on these four lovely ladies, who are actually real-life best friends living in L.A.! Adorable! Photographed at The London Hotel in Los Angeles, with vintage clothing from Shareen Vintage, tote bags by Darlington Ave, and styling by The Life Styled, this shoot is one pretty piece of eye-candy. Styled in a retro-inspired red polka-dot dress, Elena's hair was set in pin-curls to achieve the glamorous S-shaped curls and waves. Her makeup was classic with the emphasis on a true red lip. With the focus on her lips, Elena's eyes were kept neutral and simple with a black liquid liner, and no shadow or liner underneath the eye, but with plenty of individual false lashes. Elena's classic red lips were matched with a classic red polish on her nails, from OPI, called "O'Hare and Nails Look Great".

For Mimi's hair, the team at Fiore Beauty did a polished, flirty ponytail - the perfect dressed up version of an everyday favorite. To do this, they gave Mimi some good height in the front and some piecey curls throughout, and finished by making sure it was smooth and free of all fly-aways. Mimi's big, beautiful blue eyes were emphasized with a very defined, pearly, warm gray crease and a light lid. Her eyes were lined with a very, very fine liquid liner to accentuate her lash line while still keeping the look very clean.

Cat's look was the softest of the four, but topped off with a bright, poppy, pigmented lip. For such an intense color, Jaimi at Fiore Beauty says the lip color should be one with a suede finish. On Cat is one of Jaimi's favorites, Schiap by NARS. Cat's hair was pulled back into a loose, organic bun, without too much structure, letting the lip color take center stage.

Suzy's look centered around a sexy, smoky eye. The key, says Jaimi, is for the shadow to be darkest at the lash-line, blending lighter as you get closer to the lid. Her eye is lined around in black, more heavily on top, and blended out a bit on the outside corners. A neutral shimmer was added to her mid-lid, and a bright highlighter under the brow. The team gave Suzy a bright pink lip using Pink Poodle by MAC, keeping it sheer to coincide with such a dramatic eye.

Spring Makeup and Pampering Pick-me-ups

Up popped an e-mail in my inbox last night from Beauty.com. A newsletter exclusive luring me with an offer of free mascara (always a sure fire way to win me over!) to peruse the lovely new products on their site. Suddenly I saw clear visions of the state of my bathroom cabinet; my sad old blush compact with only a scrap of pink left in the palette, my beloved night time moisturizer that's dangerously close to the bottom of the jar, my empty tube of mascara that I've been trying to convince myself is not quite empty. I just had to click. I just had to have some fresh new products to carry me through these last weeks of winter and get me excited for sunny, lovely, energy renewing spring.

I can't wait to try this creamy version of Nars' best selling powder blush color, Orgasm. It's a peachy pink with a hint of sparkle that looks great on everyone, and that I personally L-O-V-E. (Remember the barely alive blush compact I mentioned earlier? This is it!)

Tarte Lip Balm Slide Tin in Mouth Off
This time of year I'm a lip balm addict and am never, ever without one lovely lip product or another. This Tarte lip balm tin makes me so happy with it's old-school shape that reminds me of middle school, and I love that it has both a glossy pink color and skin nourishing ingredients.

Now I'm inspired to do all sorts of energy renewing activities- clean out my closet, scrub my apartment clean, buy extra fresh foods at the local farmers market, play outside the next time the sun in shining. Wedding Fashion Inspiration from the Spring 2008 Runways

New York's Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week is coming to an end after a week packed with gorgeous designs for Fall 2008. I dream of the day I'll get to attend such inspirational shows, but until then I'm quite happy to pour over the amazing images and descriptions from Style.com and my favorite fashion blogs. Since fall 08 seems like an awfully long way off, and at the moment I am seriously craving some sunshine and spring time, I looked back at the big trends that Style.com reported from the Spring 2008 collections and saw a few that directly relate to wedding and bridal party fashion. Thankful for the Little Things

It's almost Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday of the year! Usually I host a big meal, cook way, way, way too much food and make my guests go around the table one by one and tell us all what they're most thankful for. I love it! This year I'm not playing hostess, so I was giving the "what am I thankful for" question some thought a little early. Just in case I'm not required to answer it out loud, at least I've done the job of remembering all the wonderful things in my life, and now, telling you all about it...

This year I have, of course, been thankful for my family, my friends, my health, and my happiness, but lately it seems to be the little things in life that really add some sparkle to the everyday and win my heart with their simplicity.

I am thankful for the wonderful products by Fresh that feel like decadent treats every single day. The Fresh Sugar Body Lotion in Lychee, the Fresh Scented Candle in Sugar, the Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment and the Fresh Pure Vegetable Soap in Verbena are my current favs...

Jennifer Behr Hair Accessories

The beautiful bridal hair accessories from designer Jennifer Behr have become a bit hit across the country, and for good reason! They are delicate, feminine and show stopping, an ideal combination for wedding style. As I was looking at her Fall 2007 collection recently, I became infatuated with her non-bridal pieces as well. I adore the dramatic and sculptural feather designs- so reminiscent of a swan lake ballerina, a look that makes me swoon!
