Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?

Nancy and Marcos: Classy, Traditional, Intimate.

Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?

Nancy: My inspiration came from my favorite flowers, roses. I have loved roses since I was a little girl and always dreamed of having them in my wedding. My dress and the color of my wedding, soft pink, were my inspiration.

Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?

Nancy and Marcos: Our first dance, because at that moment nothing else in the world mattered. It was like we were the only two people in the world, everything disappeared.

Our photographer, Hiram Trillo, was another highlight. We have been fans of his work for a very long time and always wanted him to capture our day. He made us feel like movie stars and real models. We knew we had nothing to worry about when it came to capturing our wedding day.

Junebug: What specifically drew you to Hiram Trillo and his imagery?

Nancy: My husband, Marcos Valdés is a photographer as well and both he and I love classic films, so Hiram’s use of light was a huge plus. But beyond that, we loved the way he treated us, the way he talked to us and how he just makes the day and shoots evolve so naturally. You can tell that he puts his heart into every click. It was an amazing experience!

The Photographer: Hiram Trillo

Junebug: What was the most fun part of this wedding for you to photograph?

Hiram Trillo: As with all of my weddings they treat me like part of the family. This wedding had a ton of wedding photographers as guests, some I knew and some I met.

Junebug: How did the locations available to you affect the type of images you shot and how you shot them?

Hiram Trillo: The locations were just beautiful, from their ceremony in a 300 year old church to their reception at the Crowne Plaza overlooking the city and then their day after session in a small town outside of the city with the biggest trees I had ever seen. Each location had it's own challenges but each was an amazing experience.

Junebug: How did you approach this particular wedding and what did you most want to capture during shooting?

Hiram Trillo: I love my job and one of the things that I love about it is that every wedding is different. It doesn't matter if they have all the same vendors, the couple is different and they have their own story to tell. That's how I approach each one. I love it when other wedding photographers contact me to capture their wedding. It is such a humbling feeling that they trust you for such an amazing day. Marcos is a wedding photographer and his wife Nancy is the studio manager, so I was honored when they thought of me as their wedding photographer. I had been in Queretaro a couple of time before and love the culture and history of the city. After speaking with them and knowing all of the personal details they were putting into it I know that approach would be very intimate. Like with all of my clients, I try to get to know them as much as I can so on the wedding day, I am more of a friend shooting rather than a vendor. In getting to know them, they let me know all of the little details that makes their wedding unique and in turn dictates my approach at capturing their wedding. My style is a reflection of each and everyone of couples and their imagery is a reflection of them. That way they can open their album in twenty years and go back to that day. I like to tell them that I shoot with the next generation in mind.

Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?

Dianna and Wan: I hoped for a warm and nostalgic family estate setting infused with traces of understated glamour and subtle oriental elements. Milton Park was the perfect elegant backdrop for the garden ceremony, and its ballroom an ideal blank canvas. The glamour of the golds and crystal chandeliers were balanced by fresh pinks and relatively modest table centrepieces. We paid tribute to our culture by incoorporating subtle motifs such as the dragon and phoenix watermark on the stationery and cake. The beautiful evening dress designed by Alex also made references to the cheongsum while retaining a classic Western sillhouette.

Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?

Dianna: The most memorable part of the day was actually when Wan and I went out into the paddocks with Marcus and Abraham between the ceremony and reception. Everything just felt magical: the soft afternoon light, the butterflies, the hazy hills, the horses that took us by surprise and followed us as we filmed. There were hilariously fun moments during the shoot such as when we tried to navigate around the copious amounts of cowdung littered on the fields and avoiding the millions of little bugs attempting to find refuge in the layers of my wedding dress.

The best decisions were definitely having Susan as a wedding planner and choosing Marcus and Abraham to document the day. Without them the wedding would not have felt the same! The speeches were very emotional, but I love how the hugs and loving exchanges after the speeches were vigilantly captured by Marcus.

Junebug: What specifically drew you to Marcus Bell and the imagery of Studio Impressions?

Dianna: Marcus’ style was exactly what I was looking for: Elegant, understatedly glamorous, and evocative. He is able to capture the raw emotions of the subjects without compromising aesthetics. His photos are so much more than concrete documentation of moments, but rather beautiful extractions of truth from those moments. He’s a genius!

Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?

Cinzia: I love everything that is old, vintage and classic; my favorite decade is the 1940’s. My husband loves everything new and shiny, more of a modern industrial style. So I wanted to seamlessly blend the old with the new; and what better place than Philadelphia? Our ceremony was held in the beautiful St. Marks Church which dates back to 1847, and located in the heart of Philadelphia, Rittenhouse Square. It was rich in history and architecture. Our reception was held at Tendenza by Cescaphe; a modern industrial space with exposed brick walls, white leather wrapped columns with crystal chandeliers. It couldn’t have been a more perfect reflection of the two of us becoming one.

Junebug: Looking back, what are some of your favorite moments and memories from your wedding?

Cinzia: My husband and I decided to see each other before our wedding ceremony at the exact location where we first met, Rouge in Rittenhouse Square. It was just the two of us, not even the bridal party, standing before each other as soon to be husband and wife and where we first met 7 years ago. It was a time for just the two of us to embrace our wedding day.

MUMMERS!!! My wedding was the night before my sisters birthday, Christina, who was also my maid of honor. She was such a big help to me throughout my wedding planning and in fact, throughout my entire life; that I wanted to do something to surprise her. I hired a group from the Philadelphia Mummers to not only give all of our guest a taste of Philly tradition, but to also surprise my sister with a birthday cake and song to honor her. Well, the rain tried to ruin that, but we managed to pull it off with the help of the band.

Having our entire bridal party stop at Franklin Square and go on the carousel! It was such a fun time to see everyone dressed up and playing like kids. I love everything about carnivals (I even tried to pull off a carnival theme for the wedding but my husband's facial expression nipped that one in the bud) and wanted everyone to let loose and have fun. Which we did!

We had 5 Ring Bearers. I had customized t-shirts made for all the boys to wear during the reception. The front had a bow-tie and the back said, “Brides Security”. They looked so cute running around in Security t-shirts!

Junebug: What specifically drew you to Scott Lewis Images?

Cinzia: When I was viewing different photographers online, and browsing every blog that existed (and I looked at EVERY photographer in Philadelphia and surrounding suburbs) they all started to look the same.; same photo, same stance, same spot, with the only thing different the couple. I also don’t like being told how to pose, smile, or look at someone. Some couples need that to feel secure in their wedding photos. I wanted to feel secure in my photographer. When I viewed the website of Scott Lewis there were many different things that pulled me in. He did more than just weddings, he captured emotions and feelings. You could look at his photos and wonder what was happening, almost like a story you wanted to hear. So it only seem fit, that he capture the beginning of our story, it was perfect!
