It is always so thrilling to encounter a wedding where the couple truly goes their own way; straying from tradition and expectation to create a day that's all their own. Pippa and Frank forged a new road together with a wedding day that was a journey through their beloved neighborhood of Brooklyn. After a seaboard ceremony upon a New York City water taxi, the couple traveled with their adventurous guests by foot, subway and even by carousel ride to arrive at their intimate reception site of 61 Local. The always incredible Pat Furey captured every movement, emotion and memory, in his signature relaxed style.
Junebug: What three adjectives best describe your wedding?
Pippa and Frank: Transit-oriented, Brooklynesque, playful

Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and
personalities into your big day?
Pippa and Frank: We wanted our wedding to encompass our past together. We first met and now live
together in New York, and we also both work in the planning and design fields. We had our ceremony on a New York
Water Taxi, which departed from and returned to Brooklyn Bridge Park. From there, we walked, with all our wedding
guests, to the nearest subway (with a short stop for a ride on Jane’s Carousel). We rode the subway to our
reception location, which was at one of our favorite neighborhood bars. Everything was locally made or made by us.
We had a local caterer and pie-maker, flower arrangements that we made from flowers and vegetables purchased at
our local farmers market, and 61 Local served local beer and wine.

Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your
wedding?
Pippa and Frank: There are quite a few but here are our top picks:
Being together in the bow of the water taxi as it headed out to the harbour where we would be married.
Arriving at our reception location, married, having pulled off the whole ceremony on a boat.
Hanging out at the bar with our closest friends and family!
Taking a photo with all of our graduate school friends.
Walking home from the reception together as a married couple.

Junebug: What specifically drew you to Pat Furey and his imagery?
Pippa and Frank: He captures moments as they happen and events as they unfold. It isn’t about staged
pictures, but about catching all of those amazing moments over the course of the day. We knew that we wanted to be
with our guests the whole time and not run off for photos; in fact we didn’t want to do staged photos, but rather,
we wanted our photos to be of the wedding, reception and travel between however they happened. Pat did that! He
was also game to follow us around on our adventure of a wedding.
