Junebug: What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day?
Susan and Robby: We wanted our wedding to be modern and elegant yet understated. We tried to use that theme in all facets of the wedding.
Junebug: Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding?
Susan and Robby: We loved the traditional aspects of the wedding. After making our grand entrance into the reception, the men from our families circled around us to chant “nada”. This tradition is to indicate to guests that the couple has arrived to the reception. First, the groom’s side of the family chant around the couple, then the bride’s, then finally, both sides chant together and pick the couple up to carry them to the stage where more traditions follow. We both love music and dancing, so having a great DJ was one of the most important decisions we made for the reception. We had flip-flops for the ladies to make dancing the night away easier. A string quartet also played Top 40's music during cocktail hour for our guests.
Junebug: What specifically drew you to Erik Clausen and his imagery?
Susan and Robby: We liked how Erik and Brad are able to tell a story through their photographs. We were drawn to their style because they captured moments that are not typically photographed and do so in an artistic way.
