The Couple: Leigh Ann and Steve
The Wedding: 3.10.12 - La Colombe d’Or - Houston, TX
The Photographers: Stefano Choi Photography
What inspired your personal wedding style, and how did you incorporate your style and personalities into your big day? When we decided that La Colombe d’Or would be an amazing venue for our ceremony and reception, we knew that simple romantic and classic details would fit the historic venue perfectly. Le Grand Salon is lined with beautifully carved 300-year-old oak panels brought over from France. The architectural and artistic details are timeless; we didn’t want our décor to compete with the ornate space. The flowers were soft and romantic, which looked amazing under the chandeliers and candlelight.
We incorporated our personalities by helping with the writing and selections for our ceremony. This made our ceremony feel very natural and personal.
We also picked most of the music for the cocktail hour and reception. We wanted the music to be upbeat and fun. As guests arrived, the string quartet played contemporary songs, including Taylor Swift and Journey, and they learned Kanye West’s "Good Life" for the recessional. The combination of traditional, classical music at the beginning of the ceremony and an unexpected and fun song playing as we walked back down the aisle was perfect for us!

What three adjectives best describe your wedding? Classic, Elegant, Romantic

Looking back, what are the moments, decisions or memories that you love the most about your wedding? After the ceremony, we took a few minutes to get a few shots (and take shots…) by ourselves at the bar on the other side of the venue. This quiet time was the perfect way to relax before the party started!
We are so glad we made the decision not to see each other until the ceremony. Seeing each other for the first time during the ceremony is something we’ll never forget.

What specifically drew you to Stefano Choi Photography and their imagery? We had seen Stefano and Jen’s work and loved how at ease their subjects look in the photos. They have the ability to capture such emotional moments, and we are so glad we have those memories from our ceremony. It was important to us that we feel comfortable around our photographers on our big day and that they be easy-going and fun to be around. It was a great fit!
