From Katie: Luke and I chose Castle Farms because we wanted a venue that was unique and carried a bit of history with it. Additionally, we needed a venue large enough to host all of our guests. Although I'm not the "princess" type I fell in love with the the history and grandness of Castle Farms. We wanted many of our out-of-town guests to enjoy the weekend in Northern Michigan, so we decided to marry on Friday. The rustic and vintage decor used at our wedding was very sentimental as most of it was from my parents' farm where I grew up, or was handcrafted by friends and family. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the open atmosphere and Castle grounds throughout the evening, as many were gathered outside until dusk. Our favorite part of the day was the anticipation leading up to the ceremony, and our bridal party, friends and family getting together and having a ball on the dance floor! And who could forget seeing tears in my grooms eyes.
From Photographer Dan Stewart: After shooting Luke & Katie's engagement photos I knew that shooting their wedding later that year was going to be a highlight of my 2011 season. They were welcoming, caring and outgoing, all while having a supremely good time. One moment that stands out was after their ceremony. We were taking photos down by the water in Charlevoix and as boats were passing through the canal, they would honk their horns. At the sound of the horn Katie would stop, perk up, and wave her hand as if she were in a parade. It was truly a beautiful day and I couldn't be happier for these two.
